Lowell, MA (December 8, 2020) – Willow Manor, a post-hospital rehabilitation and long-term care facility located in Lowell, MA, today announced it will temporarily convert one 10-bed unit within the center to care for COVID-19 patients. The goal is to assist hospitals in expanding capacity during this unprecedented crisis while the facility assists in the care and recovery of COVID-19 patients.

As COVID-19 hospitalizations increase in Massachusetts, Willow Manor is poised to assist hospitals who are inundated with COVID-19 patients. The center is responding to the Public Health Emergency in Massachusetts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Willow Manor will be an available option to hospital patients who are ready for discharge but need further post-acute care in their recovery from COVID-19.

“This new COVID unit will allow for proactive collaboration and seamless care coordination with local hospitals, as we are able to provide patients a safe environment for their continuum of care needs,” said Monica Roman, Center Executive Director of Willow Manor. “This will allow local hospitals to maintain capacity levels and continue to meet the needs of the community during this difficult time.”

Willow Manor will be ready to admit COVID-19 patients starting Wednesday, December 9, 2020. The Unit will be operated as a completely different entity with separate dedicated staffing in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all the Center’s patients and residents.
