Genesis HealthCare Honors Antoinette Desronvil as Compassionate Caregiver of the Year in its Northern Massachusetts Market

Annual recognition program is modeled after the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care’s national award for healthcare professionals.

Wakefield, MA - October, 18, 2022 - Genesis HealthCare, a national post-acute care provider, today announced that Antoinette Desronvil, Unit Manager and Licensed Practical Nurse at Wakefield Center in Wakefield, MA, has been selected as the Compassionate Caregiver of the Year (CCOY) in its Northern Massachusetts market. Antoinette has been with the organization since 2014.

Modeled after the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care's national program, Genesis HealthCare sponsors an annual recognition program that provides a meaningful way for Genesis-affiliated centers to recognize and celebrate staff members who go above and beyond the standard of compassionate care. Staff, residents, and residents’ families are all invited to nominate a member of the team who demonstrates compassion in an exceptional way.

According to her nomination, Antoinette is known for going above and beyond for her patients, residents and families. She'll often work double shifts to ensure residents are taken care of. She is also a fantastic communicator. She knows all her residents very well, including their likes and dislikes, their routine activities, and their families. As such, she has developed great relationships with residents' families and guardians. She knows all the family members by name and knows when it's best to get hold of them. She is a great example of a compassionate leader.

“Antoinette is an intuitive, compassionate caregiver who is beloved by patients, residents, and their families. The team thanks her for her unwavering commitment and years of outstanding contributions,” states Barry Slotnick, Market President for the Northern Massachusetts market.

Antoinette was selected as the market-level CCOY from among all staff in 11 Genesis-affiliated centers in Northern Massachusetts. She is now eligible for Genesis’ company-wide Compassionate Caregiver of the Year award, which will be selected from among its other market-level recipients later this month. Genesis will formally nominate its company-wide national CCOY recipient to the Schwartz Center to be considered for that organization’s 2023 National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year award.
