RESPIRATORY AND REHABILITATION CENTER OF RHODE ISLAND RAISES NEARLY $13,000 FOR THE ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S®

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is Largest Fundraiser Dedicated to Alzheimer’s Care, Support and Research

[Coventry, RI] – January 25, 2022 – Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island, a Genesis HealthCare affiliated Skilled Nursing Facility located at 10 Woodland Drive in Coventry, RI, announced today that it raised nearly $13,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. Despite the pandemic, this Center was still able to take time out of their busy schedules for this noble cause.  Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island is the only Center in the entire state of Rhode Island that provides access to Respiratory Therapists 24 hours a day.

Over 10 participants from Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island joined the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.  For their achievement, Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island will be presented with a trophy for being one of two teams to raise over $10,000 among the over 250 affiliated Genesis HealthCare centers nationwide. In 2021, Genesis HealthCare raised approximately $100,000 company-wide and has continued to add to their lifetime achievement of more than $1,000,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

“I was inspired by Genesis HealthCare participants joining in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Chief Operating Officer, Melissa Powell. “With the funds raised, the Alzheimer’s Association will be able to provide much needed education, support services and care to families affected by this devastating disease, as well as fund critically-needed Alzheimer’s research.”

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. With the dedication of organizations like Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island and Genesis HealthCare, the Alzheimer’s Association can continue to move forward with its vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.
