Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island is the only respiratory and rehabilitation center in the state of Rhode Island. The Center is only one in the entire state of Rhode Island that provides access to Respiratory Therapists 24 hours a day. All of the rooms on the Ventilator Unit are fully equipped with state-of-the-art ventilators and related medical equipment, piped in oxygen and suctioning, comfortable modern furnishings and flat screen televisions at each bedside.

Adam Simoneau
AdministratorAdam is a Rhode Island native, URI & St. Joseph's alumni, and dually licensed Administrator in the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Having grown up in Charlestown, RI, Adam began volunteer work for Genesis HealthCare at the age of 15 as a maintenance assistant. Throughout the years, Adam has worked for Genesis in various capacities and across multiple locations throughout the states of RI and MA. Dr. Sakeena Raza, MD
Medical DirectorDr. Sakeena Raza, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Raza received her M.B.B.S degree from Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Arkansas. She further did a two-year Geriatrics Fellowship at UAMS. Dr. Raza joined Brown Medicine in 2016 and has worked extensively in the in-patient, the out-patient and long-term care settings. Her areas of interest include frailty assessment and care of patients with dementia. She assumed responsibility as Medical director at Respiratory and Rehab Center of Rhode Island in October 2022.”

Aman Nanda, MD, CMD, AGSF
Attending PhysicianAman Nanda, MD, CMD, AGSF, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Alpert Medical School at Brown University. He came to Brown in 2001 after completing his one year Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine from St. Louis University School of Medicine followed by two more years as a John A Hartford Fellow in Geriatric Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology from Yale School of Medicine. He is Program Director of Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at Brown since 2006. He is a clinician, educator and researcher. His research interests are- 1) Dizziness in Older persons, 2) Nursing home care and 3) Medical education. He is Medical Director of two nursing homes; Steere House Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and Tockwotton at the Waterfront in Providence, RI. He is also Director of Geriatrics Ambulatory Care and Home Care Program. Outside of work, Aman enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially with daughter Isabella; he also likes to be outdoors and, do biking, hiking and skiing.

Darlene Hall
Director of NursingDarlene is a graduate of Community College of Rhode Island where she earned her Nursing Degree. Darlene has been actively working in long-term care and short term post-acute health care since then. Prior to her experience as an RN, Darlene worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She has been a Director of Nursing for approximately three years. Prior to this, Darlene worked as an Assistant Director of Nursing for a large regional provider of long-term health care services to the elderly and concurrently was a Unit Manager for a 60-bed Short-Stay Rehabilitation Facility in Westerly, Rhode Island.

Elaine Bigos
Admissions DirectorElaine has been in both acute and post-acute health care for the last 20 years. For the past 10 years she has worked on patient admissions, marketing and census building opportunities in the Northeast. Prior to joining the Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island, Elaine worked for a large multi-center healthcare provider in a neighboring state. She has been at Respiratory and Rehabilitation Center of Rhode Island since June of 2010.

Dr. Megan Horton DPT
Director of RehabilitationMegan is a 2008 and 2010 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Contingency Physical Therapy and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Megan has been practicing physical therapy with Genesis Rehab Services since 2010. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Rhode Island since 2012 for Neuro-Therapeutics and Geriatric Physical Therapy. Megan has experience with trach and vent care, aftercare following orthopedic surgery, neurological disorders, falls management, pet therapy and is a Dementia Specialist. She also trained her dog, Mix to become a registered therapy dog with Pet Partners. She presented a research project to improve the Quality of Life in patients with Dementia at the APTA’s NEXT Conference in June 2017. She was a guest lecturer for the Alzheimer’s Association Conference for healthcare providers and caregivers in 2016 and 2017. Megan is also a member of the Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program and of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Susan L. LaNinfa CNHA, CALA, FACHCA
AdministratorAn Administrator since 1990, Susan has lived in Rhode Island for over 32 years. A graduate of Providence College and Bryant University, Sue has a BS in Health Administration, her MBA and a CAGS. A member of the American College of Health Care Administrators and licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator in all New England states and Florida, Susan has worked in skilled nursing centers and assisted living in Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont. Susan’s personal belief; we are entrusted to care for people who deserve kind, compassionate people to respect, honor and help them achieve the pursuit of joy, love and happiness.
