Dr. Maureen Kelly
Medical DirectorDr. Maureen Kelly grew up in Massachusetts, the youngest of 7 children. She wanted to be a nurse in 4th grade. By 5th grade she decided to be a doctor, she wanted to be in charge! Dr. Kelly went to school at Wesleyan University in Connecticut where she majored in Latin American Studies. She went to medical school at the University of Florida and then went to Albuquerque to do her residency because she was interested in the cultural mix and she wanted an opportunity to treat Spanish-speaking people.
Dr. Kelly met her husband Alan Walker in 1994 when they both worked at a hospital on The Acoma Indian Reservation. Alan entered the first Physician Assistant class at UNM and returned to Acoma to work. In 2007 they moved to Rye to be closer to his family and to get out of the city... "I've worked in our building for about 10 years and for Genesis since it bought Pueblo Care and Rehab. I have great affection for the facility and the staff because so many people who work here really care about the residents. They go above and beyond to help the residents and give them comfort. My dad and my mother-in- law both spent their final years here and I knew their care was excellent. It made seeing them go a little bit easier."
