Positive Outcomes:
Ms. Maggie was diagnosed with COVID-19 in July and admitted to our center to gain strength during her continued recovery. Ms. Maggie stated, "She wondered what would become of her life" as she relied on G-tube feedings, dependent on staff for activities of daily living, and only taking a few unsteady steps. When asked what kept her so determined, she spoke these words, "When you have a great family that pulls you through, they are your heart. I just knew I would do whatever it took to get back to my babies. I have never in my life been so sick or felt so bad but when you have so many people (family, therapist, nursing staff) that care, you will get better." Ms. Maggie gained her independence, bathing and dressing herself, meal prep, and walking distances greater than 200 feet with no assisted device. She thanked Meridian Staff as she walked out of the center to reunite with her family!
- Ms. Maggie P. (Short stay August 24th - September 15th).
“It’s the people here and how they cared for me that’s made me better and now I am going home.” Mr. Coleman admits that this recovery was difficult and painful and there were days he felt he could not physically get out of bed. “I was just so sore and bruised and cut all over.” he said. A motor vehicle accident left Mr. Coleman with several cuts and abrasions, a lacerated liver, bruises and a severely injured hand. The Meridian Center welcomed this patient after he made the decision to admit for therapy before returning home. Today Mr. Coleman is all smiles as he plans his return home. When asked what the key to his recovery was he said.. “Stay positive and treat people right. Everyone here is trying to help me and make me better just like they are with everyone else. Can’t take it out on them if you are in pain or hurting.” The smiles on the faces of the staff here show the warmness that fills our hearts as Mr. Coleman walks from the center to finish his recovery with his family. ~Toby Coleman (Short Stay 3/24/2021-4/1/2021)
