Vet-to-Vet Café To Debut at Langdon Place of Dover, October 29
Dover, NH–A new monthly Vet-To-Vet Café hosted by Wentworth Hospice will debut at Langdon Place of Dover, 60 Middle Road on Tuesday, October 29 at 10 am. . The Café will be held monthly at Langdon Place of Dover on the last Tuesday of each month from 10 am to 11 am.
The Café is for Veterans only and Vets from all wars are welcome to attend. The Café will be run by veterans and will offer a safe social environment for Vets to gather, decompress, and meet other Veterans.
Future Cafes will include guest speakers talking about topics of interest to Veterans, discussions about challenges you are facing, VA concerns, resource help and will also include ceremonies honoring Veterans’ service.
Debra (DJ) Antone, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Veteran Coordinator with Wentworth Homecare & Hospice is spearheading development of the Café.
According to Brian Putnam, Wentworth Hospice Director of Operations, “Wentworth Hospice recognizes the importance of supporting Veterans in our community. As an organization that works closely with Veterans at end of life, we understand there is a lot more we can do in the local area to support the Veterans and help them honor their military experiences. Wentworth Hospice is proud to be working with Langdon Place of Dover and co-host Vet-to-Vet cafés. This is step in the right direction.”
The Café is conducted under the umbrella of “We Honor Veterans”, a program that provides care and honors those who have served. The program was initially conceived for Hospice groups to honor Veterans so no Veteran is alone at the end of his/her life. The program however has grown dramatically to include non-hospice agencies and now offers a meaningful cultural environment for Vets of all wars to meet, network, develop friendships and learn about important resources.
Currently Wentworth Hospice is a Level 4 Community Partner in the We Honor Veterans program, working towards Level 5. Langdon Place of Dover is a Level 3 Community Partner working to achieve Level 4.
Wentworth Hospice is a division of Amedisys, and offers a premiere solution for patients aging in place from home health, to palliative to hospice care. Amedisys provides quality, clinically distinctive care to Seacoast patients.
Langdon Place of Dover is a Genesis Senior Living community offering Assisted Living, Memory Care, and short-term rehabilitation services. It is also home to many retired Seacoast Veterans.
If you would like to attend the Vet-To-Vet Café, please RSVP in advance by calling 603-743-4110 x 224 to let us know you will attend. And if you know another Veteran who is alone and in need of services, please invite them to join us.
