Ready to go back home!
Wilbert came to Ladera Center after a hospitalization for chest pains, poor cardiac output and heart attack. Prior to his hospitalization, he had been independent with walking around his home—inside and outside—and taking care of himself as he lived at home with his wife. When he arrived at Ladera, he required significant assistance with all aspects of his care. Now, less than one month later and after working hard in his rehab, he is ready to go back home nearly independent with his care, walking all over—again inside and outside—dressing himself with only supervision needed. He has been very happy with the care and help he received here and wishes to thank everyone who helped in his wonderful recovery!
Motivated to work hard
Richard came to Ladera Canter after having had hip replacement surgery after suffering a fall at home. From the beginning, although he was in some pain and not able to do much on his own—quite a contrast from living independently at home—Richard was very motivated to work hard with the goal to go back home. Upon arrival at Ladera, he was unable to walk, unable to dress of bathe himself, had to depend on Ladera staff for everything. Now, after working very hard in therapy for three weeks, he has returned home able to walk over 400 feet, dress and bathe himself, all with little pain. He is very excited to return home to his precious dog, Molly.
Kind and helpful
Mary Ellen arrived at Ladera Center after a fall at home resulting in a compression fracture which caused her significant pain in her back. Coming from her two story home with 15 stairs, she really needed to regain her strength and mobility to be able to care for herself and her husband while going up and down the stairs. Her fall took her from complete independence to not being able to walk or even move in bed without significant pain. But Mary was determined to get better and showed that determination in her rehab. Sometimes she had to work through pain, sometimes she would become very tired very quickly. After just three weeks, her pain has subsided such that there are many times when she is pain free. She is able to walk without pain, she can dress herself and take care of herself. She expressed how confident she is in returning home now. She wants to say that “Everyone in therapy has been very kind and helpful and they got me there with care and compassion."
Presbyterian Hospice Volunteer Review
I have recently had the pleasure of frequent visits to your facility. We have quite a few hospice patients who are residents at your facility. Your receptionist is one of the best encounters I have experienced in most facilities. She is friendly, professional and efficient. I know this position requires a variety of demands; phone calls, visitors, staff and family members and residents as well. When I arrive, she is courteous, she is effective with giving instructions. My encounters have been quite pleasant with her, especially with time management, she doesn't make me feel as though she is in a hurry or that my checking in is too much to ask of her. I want to take the time to pass on a compliment on one of your staff members, Ms. Natashia Rascon. Your facility is very nice and all your staff is great. Thank you for the care you provide for all residents.

Shout-outs From a Satisfied Customer...
I want to thank each and every person that helped me during my stay here at Ladera: Housekeepers, Therapists, Nurses, Cooks, Nurse Techs, Maintenance, Business Office Workers, everyone! My stay here has been very helpful and this virus going on has been a challenge for us all. Be proud of ALL your workers. They are who made this place what it is. Again, thank you All, and may God Bless you all and will all be a huge part in my heart and prayers. I want to give a Huge Shout Out To:
Francis Garcia - she is just a burst of energy - high spirited, very personable. Francis is what I call a Duracell Battery, Just keeps on going. Her spunk, friendliness makes her a very valuable, hard and dependable worker. She sure is a keeper.
Roxanne Victorino - OMGosh, never a complaint, always happy, dancing, singing, a very contagious kinda gal. I could be in a bad mood, depressed, here comes Roxy. Bring my spirits up. Always remembering what I like to drink. There to clean me up, make my bed, hard worker. Not enough pay for what they all do. I thank and appreciate them all.
Manuela Blanco - such a sweetheart. A hard working woman, always ready to help. Would be happy to help in every and any way. A motherly loving type. Not too many left of this type of nurses. Will never forget her or any of them.
Misha Tafoya - a very soft spoken but hard worker. I saw her help my roommate that was paralyzed on one side, always in pain- well Misha is the first person to help her and I never heard a peep from this lady. Now that deserves a shout out. Beautiful inside and out.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of you.
I cannot express in words how grateful I am for the personal care and the care I received during my 10 days at Ladera Center. It is evident that all who work here are a happy family, dedicated to the recuperation and rehabilitation of the residents. From Cindy, the Dietician, who worked tirelessly with me to craft a menu for my Celiac diet, to the nurses and CNA’s (kudos particularly to Homer and Ricardo) to even the business and cleaning staff. I could not have asked for a better experience. Without Duane’s (PT) and Luke's (OT) expertise, patience and humor, I could not go home confident in my ability to successfully resume my normal activities. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of you.
