Proudly serving the community of Florence, Alabama, Hilltop at Glenwood Assisted Living is located on campus with Glenwood Center Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Located conveniently close to downtown, yet nestled on a quiet campus, we specialize in post-hospital rehabilitation, Assisted Living and Memory support. Our Senior Living and Rehabilitative Health campus model and consulting practitioners support our residents to maximize their quality of life while enjoying the peace of mind knowing additional services are available onsite should need arise. Our residents enjoy many amenities including restaurant style dining, a wide array of social, educational and spiritual activities and entertainment amongst beautiful enclosed courtyards and outdoor entertaining spaces. In addition to our 16 assisted living apartments in Hilltop II, Hilltop I at Glenwood offers a cozy, secure memory care community with 16 private apartments with specialized programming and activities. This memory support facility is licensed as a special care assisted living facility and is housed in its own secure stand-alone building.
Dementia Care Education by Genesis HealthCare is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidenced-based Dementia Care Practice Recommendations in the following topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.
Our 3 day minimum Respite stay offers the flexibility for Caregivers to take a much-needed break from the demands of daily life, while providing an opportunity for your loved one to socialize with an array of activities in a safe, supportive, welcoming environment. Hilltop at Glenwood has a quaint homelike environment with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Our staff have a passion for not only quality care but providing great quality of life, making our residents feel like family. Toirenette “Toni” Reed-Barnes, RN
Nurse ManagerToni has been a Hospice RN for over 5 years. She earned an Associate’s of Science in nursing degree (ADN) from Breckinridge School of Nursing in 2016 respectively. Toni held several healthcare positions within the hospital, community and private home settings. Toni has devoted her time during the COVID 19 pandemic traveling to areas that was stricken with heighten critical patient needs. She expressed feeling grateful to "help others during a time that was tough for everyone,” and concluded that, “being a nurse is such an amazing career that allows me to help people while using my gifts of caring and compassion to shine throughout the world.” Toni currently is the Unit Manager at the Hilltop. She has an innate desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her. She continues to work toward improving patient care, building relationships within the community and developing creative ways to maintain a distinguished rapport between families and staff members. Toni enjoys attending church services, volunteering within her community and shopping. She resides in Muscle Shoals, Alabama with her husband.
Jeff Johnson
Director of Marketing and AdmissionsJeffrey earned his bachelors of science in marketing from Columbia College Missouri, where he is currently enrolled pursing his Masters of Business Administration. Jeffrey brings three years of marketing experience and a passion for business development and helping others. Prior to working for Genesis, Jeffrey served in the United States Army for eight years as a Human Resource supervisor for The United States Army Contracting Command; and a Human Resource Supervisor for 705th Military Police Battalion. Jeffrey is passionate about serving the community and our veterans; and he is excited to connect future residents to exceptional care.
Darla Hicks
Recreation DirectorDarla began her career with Genesis in 2015. She started as an activity assistant but later moved on to work in the business office where she remained for several years. Following the COVID-19 pandemic she decided it was time to make a change and return to her roots in activities. Darla plans to further her education and knowledge of memory care and dementia with classes and experiences. She is excited at what opportunity waits for her at the Hilltop and loves spending time and working with the residents each day.
