DOCTORS COMMUNITY REHABILITATION CENTER TO CONVERT TO A TEMPORARY PARTIAL COVID-19 REHABILITATION CENTER

Lanham, MD (November 30,2020) – Doctors Community Rehabilitation Center, a post-hospital rehabilitation and long-term care facility located in Lanham, Maryland, today announced it will temporarily convert select units within the center to care for COVID-19 patients. The goal is to assist hospitals in expanding capacity during this unprecedented crisis while the facility assists in the care and recovery of COVID-19 patients.

As COVID-19 hospitalizations increase in Maryland, Doctors Community Rehabilitation Center is poised to assist hospitals who are inundated with COVID-19 patients. The center is responding to the Public Health Emergency in Maryland due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are thankful to have this facility as an available option to our patients who are ready for discharge but need further post-acute care in their recovery from COVID-19,” said Deneen Richmond, acting president of Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center.

“Through this proactive collaboration for seamless care coordination, we are able to provide patients a safe environment for a continuum of care should they need it, while also maintaining our medical center’s capacity levels to continue to meet the needs of our community during this time,” said Richmond.

Doctors Community Rehabilitation Center will be ready to admit COVID-19 patients starting immediately.
