QUINNIPIAC VALLEY CENTER TO CONVERT TO TEMPORARY PARTIAL COVID-19 REHABILITATION CENTER5/12/2020
Wallingford, CT (May 12, 2020) – Quinnipiac Valley Center, a skilled nursing and long-term care facility located in Wallingford, Connecticut, today announced it has converted the center to a temporary partial coronavirus (COVID-19) post-acute care center in order to assist hospitals in expanding capacity during this unprecedented crisis.
As the COVID-19 pandemic expands throughout the state, Quinnipiac Valley Center is poised to assist hospitals who are inundated with COVID-19 patients. The Center is responding to the Connecticut Department of Health and partner hospital’s need for a skilled nursing facility for COVID-19 positive patients.
Quinnipiac Valley Center will be utilizing a wing that was previously closed to admit up to 30 patients with COVID-19. This COVID-19 wing will be managed completely separate from the remainder of the facility.
“Hartford HealthCare is grateful to both the Department of Public Health and Quinnipiac Valley Center for supporting an additional recovery site in the Central Region of Connecticut,” states David Santoro, Vice President, Business Operations for HHC Integrated Care Partners. “The site at Quinnipiac Valley Center will allow adults who are COVID-19 positive to transition from our hospitals to a skilled nursing level of care while releasing an acute care bed for a person who might require a more intensive level of care.”
