Coronavirus Update
View All UpdatesDear Family and Friends,
We understand the huge toll that separation has taken on our residents and families. We are excited to announce that our Genesis-affiliated Centers will now allow indoor visitation at all times and for all residents (regardless of vaccination status), with the exception of the three scenarios listed below. CMS, the federal agency that regulates nursing centers, has updated its visitation guidance due to high resident vaccination rates and a drop in COVID-19 cases around the country. read more

Lori Imler
Center Executive DirectorLori joined Mount Olive in May 2020 as our new Center Executive Director. While she is new to Genesis, she is no stranger to serving in skilled nursing facilities. Lori began her career in long-term care in 1977 working as a nursing assistant. While her ultimate goal was to become a nursing home administrator, during her children's preschool years Lori worked in various capacities including activities, social services, restorative nursing, medication administration and the business office. Lori is passionate about long-term care; she believes it is a calling to serve and says her residents are the biggest blessings in her life. Lori has her Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and has been serving as a Nursing Home Administrator since 1992. Working together for five years at a facility in northern Virginia, Lori and our Center Nurse Executive Dawn Tierney have an established healthcare management partnership and are excited to be working together again at Mount Olive.

Michael A. Lawrence, MD
Medical Director"I could not be more pleased with the care and compassion that flourishes from the staff of Mount Olive Center." - Dr. Lawrence
Dawn Tierney, RN
Center Nurse ExecutiveDawn has been a Registered Nurse since 2003 and graduated from Lord Fairfax Community College in Virginia. She started her medical career as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1988 and continued in that role until graduating from nursing school. Dawn has been employed by Genesis HealthCare for 4 years. Her passion is post-acute and long-term care and is looking forward to a long tenure at Mount Olive Center.

Tina Brewer
Admission DirectorTina started working at our center in 1994, while in nursing school. She soon discovered that her calling was more in the administrative field rather than hands-on clinical care. Tina has held several positions within the center (CNA, medical records assistant, receptionist, accounts payable and social services assistant), but for the past 24 years, she has been the Admissions Director. Tina also serves Genesis Healthcare as the Senior Admission's Director for 5 other NC Genesis centers. Tina finds her job fulfilling, as she able to assist and comfort those in need and by being a resource for the community.

Jessica Gillen, PTA
Director of RehabilitationJessica has worked for Genesis Healthcare for 23 years. She started her healthcare career while in high school , by obtaining her CNA certification. While Jessica has worked in various settings, she found her calling within the long term care setting. She graduated from Fayetteville Tech in 2010 and has been a Director of Rehab since 2012.
Positive Outcomes
Patricia S. (patient since January 2020) was recently asked what she liked most about her stay. She replied: "I am thankful for being here and meeting good friends, especially my roommate. I fell and broke my femur and a shoulder. After a few surgeries, I came to Genesis. I've had a lot of prayers from staff, family and friends since I've been here. God has always been looking out for me and placed me here during a tough time in my life. I am thankful for being alive, my family, my friends and all of the progress I have made with the help of this staff!"
Orlando J. has resided at Mount Olive Center since July 2011. He says that "this is his home and we are his family." Orlando says that he is impressed with how staff has handled the "virus problem" and has not felt lonely or isolated in the least. To show his compassion and thankfulness, he decided to donate his entire stimulus check to three different charities, as an anonymous donor. Mr. Orlando J. stated that he wanted "to bless others just like I was blessed".
