Genesis HealthCare Honors Ivette Carrasquillo as Compassionate Caregiver of the Year in its Pennsylvania Market

Annual recognition program is modeled after the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care’s national award for healthcare professionals.

Shillington, PA - October, 18, 2022 - Genesis HealthCare, a national post-acute care provider, today announced that Ivette Carrasquillo, a Medical Supply Coordinator and Certified Nurse Assistant at Mifflin Center in Shillington, PA, has been selected as the Compassionate Caregiver of the Year (CCOY) in its Pennsylvania market. Ivette has been with the organization since 2014.

Modeled after the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care's national program, Genesis HealthCare sponsors an annual recognition program that provides a meaningful way for Genesis-affiliated centers to recognize and celebrate staff members who go above and beyond the standard of compassionate care. Staff, residents, and residents’ families are all invited to nominate a member of the team who demonstrates compassion in an exceptional way.

According to her nomination, Ivette takes on many roles at Mifflin Center. She actively participates as a mentor for training new CNAs, independently manages the lab collecting and completing all point-of-care COVID testing, plus she independently manages the main dining room lunch program, handles all the central supplies, is Mifflin Center’s Spanish interpreter and works on the floor assisting residents and employees daily.  In everything that she does, Ivette is supportive of each resident and is the first to jump in to assist recreation with any activities. She is always caring and delightful, often making the residents smile and truly enjoy their time at Mifflin Center.

Ivette was selected as the market-level CCOY from among all staff in 21 Genesis-affiliated centers in Pennsylvania. She is now eligible for Genesis’ company-wide Compassionate Caregiver of the Year award, which will be selected from among its other market-level recipients later this month. Genesis will formally nominate its company-wide CCOY recipient to the Schwartz Center to be considered for that organization’s 2023 National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year award.
