LOFLAND PARK CENTER RAISES NEARLY $12,000 FOR THE ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S®

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is Largest Fundraiser Dedicated to Alzheimer’s Care, Support and Research

[Seaford, DE] – January 21, 2020 - Lofland Park Center, a 110-bed Genesis HealthCare affiliated Skilled Nursing Facility located at 715 King Street in Seaford, DE, announced today that it raised nearly $12,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. Lofland Park Center offers ShortStay, Post-hospital Rehabilitation and LongTerm Care services, including Memory Support services for residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

More than 20 participants from Lofland Park Center joined the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.  For their achievement, Lofland Park Center will be presented with a trophy for being one of two teams to raise over $10,000 within Genesis.  Lofland Park Center raised the second most funds of nearly 400 Genesis HealthCare centers nationwide. Genesis HealthCare raised over $165,000 company-wide in 2019 and has raised more than $1 million over the last 5 years for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

“I was inspired by Lofland Park Center and Genesis HealthCare participants nationwide joining in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Chief Executive Officer, George V. Hager, Jr.  “With the funds raised, the Alzheimer’s Association will be able to provide much needed education, support services and care to families affected by this devastating disease, as well as fund critically-needed Alzheimer’s research.”

More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 16 million family members and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. With the dedication of organizations like Lofland Park Center and Genesis HealthCare, the Alzheimer’s Association can continue to move forward with its vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.
