Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first priority of our centers has been the care of our vulnerable patients. Efforts have been focused on infection control, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) per CDC guidelines at each patient encounter by all members of the medical and interdisciplinary care teams. Residents and staff are tested weekly for COVID-19. The admissions process involves isolation of an admission and observation unit for 14 days. Visitation by family members are permitted outdoors, and telephone visits using FaceTime are routinely offered by social services. Residents are monitored for vital signs and COVID-19 symptoms. We have a dedicated Infection Control nurse who works with closely with state and local officials. All staff members are screened for temperature and symptoms each shift as well. Over 90% of state and federal surveys have achieved a zero-deficiency rating on infection control for our Centers.
