Nice and professional

My stay here was EXCELLENT. All the staff from nurses and doctors and of course all the CNA’s are very professional and very nice. They all go out of their way to help you when you need it. Highly recommend

Kent Regency, a very professional setting for healthcare/rehab, etc. From admission by Lisa to PT, OT therapy by Cheryl, Brittany, Rob and Manny. I couldn’t have asked for a better caring environment. Housekeeping was in all areas. Cleanliness, bathing and personal care. Nurses, Doctors CNA’s, and associates were totally involved with their commitment to provide, patient’s with top notch care. The Director Stella, unlike other facilities where I was a patient (for heart, knees, etc) was interested in providing the best services. I highly recommend Kent Regency to prospective patients. Thanks!

Friendly and supportive

Although I could not believe my luck at 58, I needed rehab. My stay was very beneficial for my health and recovery. Also with reconnecting with relatives and friends. During my rehab therapy I meet my cousins aunt on my uncles side and also found out her husband was here. Which reconnected me with my cousin who I had not seen in many years. Although we live just 2 miles from each other our busy lives have taken over and we had not seen each other in years. Again the staff is friendly and supportive . I had just one minor issue with the coffee haha (nothing like Dunkin) Thanks to all the staff at Kent Regency There are too many names to mention but Joann, April, Mary, Cheryl and Ibelisse. Everyone is excellent. Thank you!

Henry's success story!

Mr. Henry P. is a pleasant and highly motivated 106 year old male who lives alone in his own home with a very supportive family. He was independent with all aspects of his care including showers and meal preparation. Henry was independently walking in his home using a cane and occasionally a walker. He was very active in his daily routine and enjoyed keeping up-to-date with politics and reading historical articles on his computer. Henry was in his usual state of health until July 6 when he presented to the ER for worsening weakness/malaise, poor appetite, poor intake, a hoarse voice, and a dry cough. He also had a significant weight loss over the past few months. Henry originally went to his local urgent care as he is prone to bronchitis and was started on a Z-pack. After minimal effect, he presented to the ER where they conducted a full medical work-up revealing no evidence of abnormalities on the CT scan except for scattered noncalcified nodules in his lungs. Henry was started on IV fluids with significant improvement. He was assessed by Physical and Occupational Therapy in the hospital who recommended short term rehabilitation due to poor balance, impaired strength, and overall decreased activity tolerance impacting his ability to return home safely and independently. Although Henry wanted to return back home and to his daily routine, he realized he was very deconditioned and did not want to be a burden to his family.

On July 8, 2021 Henry arrived at Kent Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with orders for Occupational and Physical Therapy 5 times a week. Upon initial approach, Henry was very enthusiastic and motivated to exercise to get back up on his feet. His cognition and short term memory recall was completely intact, allowing the therapy team to gain a better understanding of all the events leading up to his hospitalization as well as how independent he was at home. On evaluation, he required hands on assistance for his standing balance and functional mobility tolerating approximately 25 feet with use of a walker. He required both verbal and tactile cues due to a hearing impairment for correct technique on using the walker to prevent risk for falls. Henry’s limitations in standing balance and strength impacted his ability to safely perform his lower body bathing and dressing, his hygiene and grooming tasks standing at the sink, and all aspects of toileting which required contact guard to minimal assistance. Henry was receptive towards all education and cueing, but was also very discouraged that he could not just “get up and go” like he was previously able.

Henry actively participated with Occupational and Physical Therapy daily without hesitation. After only a week of therapy he demonstrated significant progress towards his goals of returning home and regaining his independence. He was eager to go down to the therapy room to exercise on the omni cycle to strengthen his legs. Henry was able to walk 150 feet requiring supervision with no evidence of loss of balance. He was able to ascend/descend 10 stairs with contact guard assistance based on his improvement with standing balance and activity tolerance. Henry was also able to complete all of his daily personal care with supervision and even completed light home management tasks involving the use of a walker tray for safe item retrieval. He accepted all challenges that therapy provided to facilitate the highest level of independence. Family training was provided with his daughters on safe techniques during mobility and stair management to prevent risk for falls with good recall and carryover. On July 14, Henry was discharged back home in the community with recommendation for Home Care services and continuation of family support as needed. Although Henry faced several obstacles, he never let them influence his demeanor or perseverance to return home to continue living his life!
