Annual recognition program is modeled after the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care’s national award for healthcare professionals.
Skowhegan, ME - October, 18, 2022 - Genesis HealthCare, a national post-acute care provider, today announced that Ana Diller, a Certified Nurse and Medication Assistant at Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan, ME, has been selected as the Compassionate Caregiver of the Year (CCOY) in its Maine market. Ana has been with the organization since 1994.
Modeled after the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Care's national program, Genesis HealthCare sponsors an annual recognition program that provides a meaningful way for Genesis-affiliated centers to recognize and celebrate staff members who go above and beyond the standard of compassionate care. Staff, residents, and residents’ families are all invited to nominate a member of the team who demonstrates compassion in an exceptional way.
According to her nomination, Ana is known for going above and beyond for her patients and residents. If a resident runs out of supplies or asks for a certain snack when the family cannot visit, she always goes out and the next day the resident has what they wanted. If a resident wants to sit in the shower or whirlpool an extra 10 minutes, Ana will be right there to make them happy. Very often residents ask, "is Ana here yet, is Ana coming in today?" Ana is from the Philippines and has been taught the value of respecting your elders and that is all she cares about.
“Those who get to know Ana quickly learn about her dedication, work ethic, and compassionate care. The team is grateful to her for being such a special person and for her decades of outstanding contributions,” states April Nichols, Market President for the Maine market.
Ana was selected as the market-level CCOY from among all staff in 11 Genesis-affiliated centers in Maine. She is now eligible for Genesis’ company-wide Compassionate Caregiver of the Year award, which will be selected from among its other market-level recipients later this month. Genesis will formally nominate its company-wide national CCOY recipient to the Schwartz Center to be considered for that organization’s 2023 National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year award.
