Genesis HealthCare Dementia Care Basics recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® Curriculum Review

Training aimed at implementing the latest evidenced-based approaches to dementia care amid growing numbers of Americans affected

Kennett Square, PA -- Genesis HealthCare announced today its Dementia Care Basics training program is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association for successfully completing the association’s curriculum review and incorporating their evidence-based Dementia Care Practice Recommendations in the following topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.

"Our focus is on providing practical, person-centered training that equips staff with the knowledge and confidence to support people living with dementia."

Providers who train their staff utilizing a training program recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association also are eligible to purchase the essentiALZ certification exam for their staff. The essentiALZ exam is an online individual certification exam that tests for understanding of quality dementia care practices. Professional care workers who pass the exam are certified in essentiALZ for two years.
