New Full-time GPS Nurse Practitioner

In 1995, Ms. Fessenden graduated from St. Joseph’s College of Maine School of Nursing. She began her career as a shift supervisor and MDS coordinator, and then moved to Mercy Hospital of Portland, ME in their Cardiac step-down unit and med-surg floor.

In 2002, Ms. Fessenden graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. Since graduating, Ms. Fessenden has worked in both outpatient practice and long-term care (LTC). Her specialty in the outpatient setting was women’s health and family practice. In LTC, she saw patients for mental health and dementia needs. Ms. Fessenden also taught undergraduates, medical students and
residents at the University of Texas Health Science Center.

In 2011, Ms. Fessenden graduated form the University of Phoenix with a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology. She also became a certified Health and Wellness counselor & group fitness instructor.

Outside of her nursing career, Ms. Fessenden has also been an active member in her community. She has been instrumental in raising funds for M.S. research, cancer research and for the American Heart Association. She is an advocate, volunteer and out spoken against domestic abuse and partner abuse. She started Get Strong. Break Free, Inc, a non-profit in TX to raise awareness, education and funds to combat domestic abuse. She is also forming a wellness company through which she may counsel and teach healthy living and change to those outside of her nursing practice.

After recently moving back to New England, Ms. Fessenden is extremely excited and flattered to join the talented team at Groton Regency Center as a member of Genesis Physician Services. In this capacity, she plans to use all of her knowledge, past experience and counseling abilities to assist in improving the quality of life and possible rehabilitation
of those living there.
