Glen Hill Center Earns Top Distinction for Excellence in Quality Care
9/4/2014 12:00:00 AM

Glen Hill Center has been recognized as a 2014 recipient of the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award for superior performance in the long term and post-acute care profession. The award is one of three distinct awards possible through the National Quality Award Program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). The competitive award program recognizes centers across the nation that meet rigorous standards and serve as models of excellence in providing high-quality long term care.

“The centers that have earned this award have not only demonstrated superior quality outcomes but inspire us all to continue to strive for excellence,” said Mark Parkinson, President and CEO of AHCA/NCAL. “I am honored to congratulate Glen Hill Center for their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of those who rely on our services every day.”

Glen Hill
Center was one of six centers nationwide to receive the prestigious Gold – Excellence in Quality Award this year. Since the program’s inception in 1996, AHCA/NCAL has issued only 24 organizations with awards at the Gold level, the final and most rigorous level of the National Quality Award Program.

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals. The program has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Centers begin the quality improvement process at the Bronze level and must receive an award at each level before proceeding to the next. As a recipient of the Gold – Excellence in Quality Award, Glen Hill Center has successfully earned a Bronze and Silver Award and addressed the Baldrige Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence in its entirety.

Marnie Talamona, administrator for the center, states “Glen Hill began its quality journey with AHCA back in 2004 and received the bronze award that October. The AHCA Quality Award process provided a pathway for our center to attain excellence in providing high quality care. The dedication to this process by the entire Glen Hill Center team focused efforts on the Baldridge criteria for excellence in the areas of leadership, process management, strategic planning, results and a customer focus. This is not a process of writing a 55 page application, it is an effort in identifying what you do well, what needs improvement and the best ways to achieve and maintain excellence. By incorporating the Baldridge criteria into our everyday operations and living our core values we are able to improve the lives we touch through the delivery of high- quality healthcare and everyday compassion. We are honored to be a 2014 AHCA Gold recipient and will continue on our quality journey each and every day”.

The awards are sponsored by AHCA/NCAL Associate Business Members My InnerView, by National Research Corporation and PointRight. My InnerView represents the true voice of nursing home and assisted living residents, families, and employees with the most insightful quality measurement solutions and satisfaction surveys in the healthcare continuum. PointRight is the recognized leader in data-driven analytics for health care and insurance. The award will be presented to Glen Hill Center during AHCA/NCAL’s 65th Annual Convention and Exposition, October 5-8, 2014, in Washington, D.C.
